The air is warm and sweet. Life is budding all around and May flowers stretch across a field of freshly paint greenery, the faint scent of their perfume on gentle warm breeze. My heart beats rapidly in anticipation and I look out over sunlight space seeking your face. A stream of electrified energy moves up my spine awakening all of my senses as I feel the heat of your breath at the back of my neck. I turn to face you and two small suns flash with desire from the depths of eyes that have lovingly gazed upon my face in seasons past. Breath hangs in the air suspended in timelessness as I, the Maiden, reach out to you, my consort. Earth and Sun sigh into the release of consummate union and passion’s light burns with heat and intensity, as each lover’s flame becomes the singular flame that fuels the passion of Beltane.

As the Wheel continues its cycle of light we turn our focus towards stimulating the dynamics of creation within. At the time of the Vernal Equinox we did the work of seeking balance and honoring the pause of that space strengthening an awareness illuminated by the potential that is held within the fertile space of manifest form. We found this space of balance within ourselves and opened in receipt of taking in more of the light continues to expand as it surrounds us outwardly. This opening to receiving the downpour of the light of growth was the preface to the union of the polarities at Beltane.

Now, at the time of Beltane we can use this illumined awareness to enjoy the blessings of manifest form. We are lit deeply from within and the light of that will to passion attracts to itself whatever is the object of its desire. We love and dance as we engage all of our senses in the beauty that springs forth from every space of earthly delights. We move around the phallus of maypole in a state of excited vibration seeing creative potential opening just as the flowers adorning it open to take in more of sun’s strengthening light. We nestle into hollow of fertile earth, seeking it as our only clothing of adornment as we become enraptured in the scent and physicality of earth in another’s body. We bring to life the seeds of our creative efforts and offer space for growth. It is of no matter how that new life takes form; physical and spiritual are equally important as one feeds the other and desire takes hold that is primal in instinct and pure in intention towards life.

This exchange of creative potency become the polarities of magnetic attraction that take the forms of male and female, God and Goddess and are the positive and negative charges needed to generate sufficient electrical current of vibrant and pulsing Light to flow and move towards a state of overt Life. This is the time of procreation and as such the continuation of what has been seeded within is ready to be conceptualized and brought forth into manifest form. Like attracts like and we use the electro-magnetic attraction of our inner sun to create the cycle of connection and flow to the physical sun. We open to receiving and mirroring back the life giving properties as above, so below, and what is conceived within, becomes the manifest expression of that creation without.

Astrologically, Beltane falls during the solar month of Taurus, the Bull and heralds the fecundity of the season and the promise of what may be gifted from the attraction of polarized opposites and their ultimate union. This is stable and strong energy that holds fast to the foundations of manifest form and life and ensures the cycle of life will continue. Steadfast in its purpose and reliable in its efforts, what flows during Beltane’s opening is a celebration of the desire to create and the strength of our physical form to act as container for this goal. The energy expend by the instinctive nature of the Bull effectively completes the work needed to sustain physical and emotional body. The off spring of its mating will maintain the work that was begun by the father that sired and the mother that birthed.

In ancient times the agricultural societies relied on the sexual union of maiden and youth and if the act was consummated in the fields it would ensure the fertility of the crops that would sustain and feed. The abandon of sexual coupling on May’s eve confirmed the connection to land and animal, desire and lust. Children born of these unions were blessings upon the communities and a sign that the natural world was full in its potential. The potent life force contained within sexual energy is a familiar concept that flows through many spiritual practices. The practice of sexual Tantra and the priestesses and priest that engage its principals direct the flow of this climatic energy towards effect in the spiritual planes and self-evolvement. The Great Rite of the Wiccan practice affirms the enlivening of this energy and even when practiced as the symbolic Great Rite (using athame and chalice as uniting tools rather than physical union) its energy is palpable and transformative in continuing the flow of magick begun. This is the Will to Life and the anchoring of this will in manifestation.

Beltane holds the key to uniting the energy of these polarities of our own being. The strength and physical tides held in the aspect that is of the God and the nurturing and healing of the Goddess. Coming to a place of acceptance and love of who we are and what creative potential we hold is consummating the relationship of the polarities within. Each polarity holds within itself the Divine spark of creation. As the potency of Beltane’s union reaches its climax, the two become as one, each offering freely of its own nature of positive and negative charge in creation of the flaming beacon that is the integrated whole of the enlivened and creative “you”, a child of physical union and a child of the cycle of Divine Light that seeks out itself within the flame of your seeding.

Bright Blessings of Fertility in All of Your Endeavors….

Summer Solstice
12:24a.m. (EDT)

I stand in a fragrant field
Bursting with Summer flowers
The heat of Father Sun pours
Down freely offering its gifts
Of sustaining powerful Light.

I stand in the pause of time
That has witnessed the seeding
Of Potential and the union of
Consummate creative action.

I stand at the crossroads of my
Path’s purpose ready to bloom
Fully in the light of day and
Fold inward as darkness falls
Sheltering what has endured
The full force of brilliant Light.

Golden blazing orb descends
Molten liquid red and orange
Shifting its palette as it sinks
Deeply into its space of rekindling.

And as the light of sunset retreats
The darkness moves in shadow
Drawing all thoughts inward
Blanketing me with the mantle
Of creation’s self-reflection.

The waning of the Light has begun
And with its advent comes the promise
Of Divine light burning brightly within
The cavernous space of Self I will walk
As the Hermit issues silent invitation.

Today marks the Summer Solstice in the Eastern Hemisphere. This is the longest day of the year and heralds the beginning of the waning half of the year. Several years ago I wrote a series of Sabbat articles that were called the Illuminated Wheel. Each was an exploration of the energy of that particular Sabbat as a beacon of Light (and Shadow) that is mirrored as the flame of the Divine spark within.

Given the general morale of the world at large I thought this would be an excellent time to revisit a space of hope and the reminder of the Light we carry within as we honor the moving of the Great Wheel and the cycles and seasons of change. The poem above and the pathworking below are an opportunity to call into your life the burgeoning of your natural state of being filled with the promise of Divine illumination regardless of the appearance of darkness that grows around as the months wane into Winter.

The constant and the anchor in every situation, good – bad or indifferent- is YOU! The ways in which we celebrate the movement through time and the cycles of the seasons, highlighted by the energy and myths created by these Sabbats are tools that may be called upon as you awaken to the changes that occur around you. We look to the light to bring clarity and we welcome the shadow to cool the rising heat that will consume if not tempered.

This Solstice is an opportunity to reach back and re-light the steps taken that have brought you to this day of the potency of the Sun’s light and its call to preparation for stepping towards its shadow…..

Reaching Back Into Creation – A Pathworking

Find a comfortable space where you will not be disturbed and settle into a supportive chair or with your back braced as you sit on the floor. Breathe deeply and fully a few times and with each subsequent breath allow yourself to settle more deeply into whatever you are sitting in or on. Close your eyes and gently pull your conscious mind up to the space between your brows and envision an inner screen of your making. You are both observer and participant in the experience and as you breathe more deeply and establish a steady flow of rhythm you see a point of blue light just ahead of you. As you continue to inhale and exhale this point begins to expand and forms a dense yet very refined mist of pale blue flickering light. You breathe into the stretching of this light as though to form a veiling or threshold and see yourself stepping through the mist.

You emerge at the edge of a brilliantly lit field, dense with flowers in full bloom. The blending of fragrant air and wildlife floods your nostrils and is sweet and heady in the ripeness of its offering. The noonday sun beats down enfolding you in its enlivening embrace and all around you are the signs of life that has been quickened by the act of creation and sustained by the life-giving light. You inhale deeply and sigh into the release of an exhalation that signals your readiness to begin the journey of re-membering that has brought you to this place of fertility. You breathe deeply and close your eyes allowing all of your senses to awaken and engage.

You breathe deeply and gently open your eyes and find yourself standing in the same field but now its vision is one of several weeks prior and the beginning of May. Flowers that are not quite in full bloom stretch across a field of freshly painted greenery, the faint scent of their perfume moving on a gentle warm breeze. You feel the heat and energy of the will to creation fill the space of your pelvic bowl (Sacral Chakra) as awareness focuses its intent within this creative vessel that holds the seed of potential for life. You breathe into the spaciousness of this part of your body and feel the warmth and sensation of awakening as you allow the energy of breath to flow through this creative gateway. Intuitively, you move this area of your body rocking gently side to side as you envision the flow of creative potency and vitality. Breathe into this sensation of desire and will as the bowl of your creative intent fills with life force and the memory of what brought you to this space of creation.

These thoughts quicken your breath and your heart beats rapidly in anticipation as you look out over the field of sunlit space seeking your beloved. A stream of electrified energy moves up your spine awakening all of your senses as you feel the heat of your lover’s breath at the back of your neck. You turn to face your beloved and two small suns flash with desire from the depths of eyes that have lovingly gazed upon your face in seasons past. Breath hangs in the air suspended in timelessness as you reach out to your consort. Earth and Sun sigh into the release of consummate union and passion’s light burns with heat and intensity, as each lover’s flame becomes the singular flame that fuels the passion of Beltane’s gift.

The warming after-glow of creative action slowly dissipates and you begin walking towards the edge of the field coming to stand in front of a small iron gate bordered by a low stone wall enclosing a beautifully landscaped garden. Full bushes just budding with green and a tapestry of assorted flowers that are just beginning to sprout from the dark rich soil, spread in front of you like a welcoming carpet. You see that there is a stone path just to your right and curious as to what lay along its course you turn and begin to step forward. Your feet make a gentle tapping sound as each moves from circular stone to circular stone and each footfall seems to release the fragrant scent of thyme that grows between and around each stone. You walk along taking note of the sunlight pouring down warmly and the blending of sounds of birds, insects singing away the last vestiges of winter’s hold. The air is electric in the newly awakening life that flows in his space and you feel this energy as a palpable stream of outpouring that is prickly and persistent against your skin. Just ahead is a small space of opening and an ornately carved iron bench beckons you to sit and rest. You sit and breathe deeply taking in the vibrancy of creative flow and the electrified seeding of creation.

You breathe deeply and gently close your eyes, drifting back into the memory of candles glowing brightly and the quickening promise of Imbolc. On your inner screen the image of an altar dressed with a bright white square piece of cloth and holding centrally a black pillar placed directly behind a white pillar appears with striking clarity. Both candles are lit and the contrast of black and white remind you of the polarity and balance of the Wheel’s energy and the waxing and waning of Light within the Wheel.

Now shift your awareness and focus towards the white pillar. See it now expanding and becoming clearer and stronger in its light. See this larger flame emanating from your central core. This is the space of your Inner Sun’s energy. This is the internal furnace that creates, destroys and fuels your will and desires. This candle of flame burns brightly and strongly and holds the power of transformation and quickening within its sensuous flames. This is the flame that has been growing to fullness as the months have brought you to the space of the Summer Solstice. Breathe deeply into this imagery and engage as much sensorial experience as possible.

Envision the image of yourself standing in front of the white pillar of flames. Draw in a deep breath of intent and step through the white flames, bringing with you what you have cultivated and brought to the fullest expression of your own Light. You pass through these flames and find yourself now standing within those of the black pillar. Acknowledge this dark light as those aspects of yourself that await the brilliance of light you carry forward and hold the potential of serving as the kindling of your inner fires as you move into the waning of the year. Breathe deeply into this imagery and engage as much sensorial experience as possible. These are the flames that you will nurture and tend as the Sun wanes and the call to inner reflection cries out to you. You breathe deeply into these images and the memory they hold of what has brought you to the fullness of the Wheel of Light.

You breathe deeply feeling the experience of these candles of light and dark and as you exhale you open your eyes, now surrounded by the fading of light and night’s veiling. You rise from the bench and the warmth is now replaced by the biting chill of a winter’s eve. You shiver in the memory of this night and the return to the space of beginning. You remember the anticipation you felt as the Waxing of the Great Wheel took hold and the gift of the Winter Solstice ignited the Light within. You stood fearlessly and with hope as you faced the impending darkness of the Longest Night; thick and almost opaque in its veiling. As the memories of this time of the first spark of newly created light fills you the realization of what you imagined on that night and what has come to be brings tears of joy and gratitude. You acknowledge the gift of having turned the focus of that seed of light outwards as the sun gained in strength in the sky above and you made commitment to attune to that same solar cycle within. You think on all that was birthed from this singular and profound point on the Great Wheel; the promises offered and the manifestation of each in turn as you moved forward. Standing in a place of strength, light and clarity and you step willingly into the turning of the Waning Wheel of the Year knowing that these flames will always light the way.

You breathe into these thoughts, feeling the flame of your inner sun expanding. You breathe deeply as you leave the memories of your journey behind and return to the present time of the Summer Solstice. You breathe deeply as you move back into the space of your physical being and the surroundings in which you began this journey. You breathe deeply offering up thanks for the lessons of the Wheel and when you are ready gently flutter your eyes open and return to the here and now.

So Mote It Be!

Beltane’s Fires burn brightly this weekend as man celebrate the sacred union of the masculine/feminine, God/Goddess, Maiden and Youth. May Day (aka.the Sabbat of Beltane) and dancing around the maypole, weaving colorful ribbons and crowning the May King and Queen are some of the more traditional ways this Sabbat is celebrated.

Please enjoy a pathworking to quicken the light and potential of the consummate union of your Divine Feminine and Divine Masculine within. This is an extract from a longer post on my Womb of Light Blog at Pagan Square/Sage Woman. You can access the full post here…

The Lover’s Flame of Beltane

A Meditation of Quickening Light

Choose a space where you will not be disturbed. Relax into a comfortable chair or other space. Establish an even and steady flow of breath, allowing your focus of awareness to gently settle into the space just at the level of your legs and thighs (Root Chakra) . Breathe into this space and open your senses to the experience of your legs resting on the surface below you and the feel of leg and thigh pressing into the chair or floor. Gently tense the muscles in your lower limbs and make note of the strength and feel of flesh, bone, tendon and muscle.

Move your awareness up to the space of your pelvic bowl (Sacral Chakra) . This is the creative vessel that holds the seed or egg of potential for life. This is the space of release and container of womb of receipt. Breathe into the spaciousness of this part of your body. Feel the warmth and sensation of awakening as you allow the energy of breath to flow through this creative gateway. Move this area of your body rocking gently side to side envisioning the flow of creative potency and vitality. Breathe into this movement as the bowl of your creative desire fills with life force.

Draw this energy up into the space of your center core (Solar Plexus). Focus your awareness on the filling of this core with the flowing life force of your creative potential and the anchoring of the physical support of leg and thigh. Breathe into this space allowing the energies to co-mingle, feeling the warmth of the inner sun as it generates it life-sustaining power to what you have called forth. Breathe deeply and fully into the experience of enlivening this central space within. These are the spaces of physicality that flow into heart, lung, arm and head. These are the anchors that hold your physical form connected to the earth and the instinctual urges towards procreation and survival. Envision light filling your lower body and mid-section. This light glows brightly, expanding with each breath and radiating throughout all of your body. You feel the heat of the sun and the flow of creative energy moving strongly and purposefully. Allow these energies to move as they will for as long as you wish.

When you have received all that is needed, envision all of the energy that has run through you coming into the core center of your solar plexus. See and feel it all moving deep into the center of this inner sun creating the space of renewal and stimulation for everything that you wish to bring into manifestation. Inhale deeply taking from the waves of energy flowing into this center. Offer thanks for this experience of quickening and the uniting of all that makes you fully human.

Allow your awareness to return to focus on your breath, the rise and fall of your chest and the physicality of your being in the space you are at present. Each breath brings this awareness into sharper focus and attention. And, when you are ready gently flutter your eyes open and be present in the here and now.

Blessings of the Autumnal Equinox
September 22.2016

The Great Wheel has turned once again and we find ourselves at the time of the Autumnal Equinox. The air is cooler, the leaves are turning and beginning to fall from brittle branches and all of life is giving pause to prepare for what changes lay ahead. This is the second of the three harvests and the fields are already beginning to brown as the day’s light gently wanes and we are enveloped in the quickening darkness of the setting sun. It is at this time we begin to gather our stores of ripened summer foods and draw the remainders of outdoor activities into ourselves to carry us through the winter months ahead. Soon the time for introspection and the gentle quickening of the light that will be birthed at Yule will be at hand.

Many will celebrate this Sabbat as Mabon and give honor to the God as the wild lord of the hunt and Green Man of the forests. The Goddess becomes Gaia, the great earth mother who offers up her lands as sacrifice in the cycle of life and death and to that, which will be prey and those that must be predator. In her form as Lady of the Beasts she will guide and protect her animals to insure that new life will come from those that survive the harshness of winter.

If we look to the astronomical energies that are occurring we celebrate the space of balance between the waning light of the year and the waxing of the dark. The energy of Virgo readies itself as bridge and gateway to the opening of Libra as the transition is made from one solar month to the other. This is the action of the Mutable (Virgo) flexibility reaching out towards the Cardinal newly formed growth that is the balance of Libra. And for those moments in time when the midpoint of transfer of these energies is achieved we stand at the center of the Autumnal equinox; each being in balance with the other; equal day and equal night.

One of the ways I use this turning of the Great Wheel is to reaffirm my connection to the greater world and the deeper exploration of the Anima Mundi- the World Soul. I reflect on my place in this world and on what helps to sustain that presence. I reflect on the connection that I have with all that surrounds me and the actions that I will put into motion to strengthen and deepen that connection at all levels. Using the energy and balance of the equinox offers the space of intent that establishes a closer relationship between man and animal and the acknowledgement of the collective consciousness of the world soul that is informed by both.

By definition, the Anima Mundi is considered to be the pure ethereal spirit that is contained and disseminated throughout all nature. This spirit was thought to animate all matter of the natural world in the same sense in which the soul is thought to animate the human form. If we reach back in time, our ancestors had great understanding of this premise and perceived all of life as interconnected with no separation between the human and natural world. Each was dependent upon the other for its survival and the cycles of planting and harvesting flowed smoothly and in harmony. Gaia, the goddess as Mother Earth holds within her being the essence of this animating spirit and is the sustainer of all life that is enfolded in her body.

If we use the dynamics of this concept of a World Soul, we can draw on the energy of this cycle to bring about a balance of animal and man; humanity and the natural world in which we are all participants. The potential is in the opening to a wholistic state of consciousness that is inclusive of the collective awareness of all levels and streams of existence that comprise our Greater Earth.

So, how do we reaffirm our connection? Being guided by an ecological conscience is a given expectation of all who consider themselves pagan and follow an earth-based spirituality. The actions that are in support of living lightly and respectfully on our planet is a commitment made because it is the right thing to do. This mindset is the beginning of making personal commitment to remain in balance with our world. We must also consider the natural world as inclusive of city streets, malls, the urban sprawl and clutter as well as the preserved forests, protected lands and spaces of wildlife and clean air. All are alive and all are part of the greater whole each having its own dynamics, rules, detriments and positives. That which we consider as polluted and over trafficked are the result of man’s creation and as such are connected to the spirit of man and therefore also that of nature.

One very concrete and tangible effort is volunteering at an animal shelter. My daughter walks dogs for the local shelter and has fostered kittens. Food, blankets and carrier donations are gratefully accepted by most. Spending time in a nature preserve and observing animals in their natural habitat gives a greater sense of the beauty and complexity of exchange between nature and her inhabitants. At a spiritual level, spending some time in meditation to connect with your own power (or Totem) animal will open up other pathways of understanding. Regularly working with this animal and asking it to share its mysteries and place among all of the wild can help to guide you towards those physical steps you can take in the manifest realm.

If you are so inclined, planting a garden and dedicating it as green space with emphasis on those plants that attract butterflies and birds gives sanctuary to the animals in your neighborhood. Working with medicinal herbs and plants and getting to know the energies of the Devas and land spirits will connect you more deeply with the green world. Their healing and opening properties will offer opportunity to feel the potency of their energy and listening to the wisdom of the land spirits will guide you in living in a manner that is in support of sustainability and maintenance.

And, a key component to all of these is the work we do for ourselves to align and balance those parts of ourself that act as interface for this exchange. When we work in balance with our parts of self, we are working in accord with the world around us. In order to connect with our natural world we must first find those places of connection to the wild within our selves. The Lower Self is the place of direct connection with our instinctual and basic survival nature. This is the place of the animal and of the wild that makes decision propelled by its basic needs. Those things within us that stir the desire to interact with others, to form community and to create safe haven are part of the order of the natural world.

The Middle Self draws that basic instinct up to a place of balance so that the excess of these things is in agreement with our place in the world as we know and perceive it to be. It, in effect acts as the gatekeeper allowing what is productive at any given moment to be given the pass-go so we may remain effective in our work as part of a larger whole.

The Higher Self is the point of connection with the Divine and the Higher mind. It is this self that streams information from the collective conscious and informs the actions that will ultimately be taken by the Middle Self. It is the connecting point of the highest levels of understanding of the unity and thread of commonality in all things and the source from which they originated. The work that we do in aligning these aspects of our true nature eventually brings us to the center point of balance and it is from this point that we find our place in the natural world as participant and guardian of the life that is contained therein. This is the space where our perceptions broaden and we sense the entirety of the world and can then be effective in all of our workings within it.

I invite you to join me at this time of the Autumnal Equinox and celebration of the wild. I offer a solitary ritual that you may use to quicken the memory of your place and purpose in opening to the Anima Mundi as you restore the balance of man and animal; beginning with the restoring of that balance within yourself. Blessings of the Equinox!

A Simple Ritual of Balance

You will need:

1-White and 1-Black candle
An object that represents your concept of yourself (a ring, lock of hair, picture, etc.)
An object that represents your concept of the natural world (a leaf, stone, flower, herb, etc.) and
An object that represents your concept of the animal world (picture, feather, tooth, etc..)

Place the white and black candles approximately 5-8” apart from one another envisioning them as representing the extremes of humanity and the natural/animal world. Place your object of self in front of the black candle and the objects of animal and natural world in front of the white candle.

Center and ground yourself in preparation for this ritual. Visualize yourself as a tree, reaching roots deep into the earth and drawing up the energy of the core of Mother Earth below into the center of your solar plexus. Visualize yourself as reaching upward, full-leaved and branches extended in anticipation of Father Sun’s potent kiss. Draw this energy down into the center of your solar plexus. Breathe into these two streams of energy, light and dark, sky and earth and see them co-mingling and entwining, one into the other. Breathe into the synthesis and harmonious balance of what has become a singular stream and feel yourself anchored in earth and sky, strong and resilient, ready to begin the work at hand. So Mote It Be.

Call the energy and protection of the your space of working into being in whatever manner is in accord with your spiritual practice. Call to witness any spirit guide, patron, deity or power animal that you wish to aid the work.

Make declaration of intent in witness of those seen and unseen:

“At this time of balance held within the Autumnal Equinox I call to the balance within myself and that of the natural world. I call to the world soul and all of its inhabitants as intrinsically interwoven creating the rich tapestry that is the living soul of this world. “

Come to stand in front of the black candle. As you look into the flame envision all that you are. See all the aspects and titles you carry as you move through your daily responsibilities. See yourself as a distinct and separate individual and what that individuality means to you. Fill this vision with your thoughts, emotions and will defining as clearly as possible. Look upon the object you have chosen as representation of yourself and fill it with all that you have envisioned. Breathe this picture into that object; enlivening it with your individuality and uniqueness.

Move to stand in front of the white candle. As you look into its flame, envision the many layers that comprise the natural world. Look upon the landscape of the earth as though soaring high above. Look upon the life that takes the form of the animals; mammal, fowl, amphibian and fish. Look upon the varied shapes, sizes and structure of the buildings, streets, cities and shopping areas that are scattered on the living land. See them as part of this natural world, as well; each being anchored in the earth. Breathe into what you see and envision this space as a kaleidoscope of diversity. Look upon the object you have chosen as representation of the natural world and fill it with all that you have envisioned. Breathe this collage of nature into that object; enlivening it with the energy of the world.

Move to stand directly at midpoint between these two candles. Pick up the object of Self and place it at this mid-space; front and centered at what would be the point of a triangle, with the candles as its base. Pick up the object of the natural world and place it next to and touching the object of self. Both now centrally held at a triangular point between the two candles. This is the triangle of will that holds the flame of the Divine spark. It is from this space that our souls yearn and hunger to be at one with all of life and strive towards quickening those links of connection. Soften your gaze, and breathe deeply envisioning a line of energy drawn from each of the candles towards this center point of balance held by self and the natural world. Allow this energetic strand of connection to build and become stronger and stronger in clarity. As you continue to breathe into this flow see yourself and the natural world as one. Envision yourself as part of this fabric of life and allow this vision to take the form that its wishes.

You may find yourself swimming in the ocean surrounded by sea otters, whales or dolphins. You may find yourself soaring high above a cityscape as you migrate to warmer weather. You may find yourself in the forest, deeply rooted and standing tall and strong amidst the mighty oak and grove of ancient trees. You may find yourself standing before Gaia, herself as she holds you gently within the valleys and peaks of her body. Breathe deeply and fully in this vision and allow it to move in and through you. Enlivening and informing all that you are. Allow a circuit of energetic flow to open between you and the vision held within the union of the objects of self and the world. Each inhalation receiving the gifts of this state of balance and union and each exhalation, returning the transformed synthesized form back to its origins.

When you have received all that is needed at this time, breathe deeply and allow the streams of connection to withdraw, each returning to their own source. Breathe deeply and see with renewed clarity each of the candles distinct in their individual form and each of the objects also distinct in their individual forms. This is your reminder that it is only through the union of the individual parts that the whole of its creation may be achieved. Turn your awareness to the balanced and connective energy now running through you. Offer up thanks for this experience and know that at any time you may quicken this connection and make use of the energy to heal and enliven yourself and the world around.

Give thanks to those patrons or guides that you called into your space of working. Give thanks and ground the energy of your space of working. Blessed Be!

The Second Harvest

We go where the wild things are
And the Lord of the Land
Stands ready at the guard.

The harvest is upon us and all
Life holds steady bracing for
The storms that lay ahead.

We go where the wild things are
And all of life lay within the
Heart of He who Guards the land.

We find sanctuary within
As the fields become barren
And the crops yield only the
Potent promise of renewal.

The Autumnal Equinox heralds another turn of the Great Wheel and we find ourselves at the time of the Autumnal Equinox. Soon the time for introspection and the gentle quickening of the light that will be birthed at Yule will be at hand, but for now, attention is placed on abundance.

This is optimal time for connecting with the Anima Mundi the World Soul and the kingdoms of Animal, Man, Crystal and Plant that comprise it.

The veils are thinning and the air is dense and thick with energy that dips into many planes and forms of being. We glimpse the shadowscape in the periphery of physical vision and soften our gaze seeking out what stands just out of sight. We honor the transition into death and we envision the calm of rest from corporeal form. We are acutely aware of own mortality and metaphorically summon the hand of death to remove from us those things that hold us inert and unproductive. We call to a vision of wisdom and inner knowing as we move through our mundane lives hoping to be ever connected to what has passed beyond as source of eternal love and gentle guiding hand, Contemplation and inner reflection are our persistent companions and we make good use of this brief space of time to offer up call to our ancestors and beloveds for guidance and wisdom.

Seek out the quiet of a space
Cloaked in the mantel of darkness
Attend to what lay hidden reaching
Out from silent places still unknown.

Breathe deeply into the silence
The sound of your breath the only
Resonance of echo that mirrors
Back to you your place of surrender.

Allow the hollow bone of emptiness
To offer up its vessel as space of
Wisdom’s downpour.

Breathe deeply into the darkness
You are never alone and have
But to call out for the veils
To lift and ancestor will
Heed the tender call.

Soften your eyes as you seek
Shape in the formless and the
Gift of vision will unfold
Metamorphic in its transformation
As gossamer wings of light
Flutter in ascending.

Attend to your hearing as the
Whispers of Soul’s yearning
Find the key to unlock
The mysteries of your being.

Feel the gentle kiss of a long
Gone loved one brush against
Cheek or lips receptive to the
Tenderness held in death’s embrace.

The visions flow and move like
Spectres of light bodied spirits
That seek the memory of physical
Flesh and bone.

The visions seek out those who
Would not fear their pointed
Truths and revelations honed
By time’s eternal hand.

The visions come when all is
Readied.

The Visions come when mind is
Distracted and heart is pounding wildly.

The visions come to refine and
Clarify a hidden need.

The visions come unrelentless in
The compelling need to tell their stories.

The visions come when you finally
Surrender to letting loose the
Reins of willful control.

The only thing asked in return is that you
Simply open to the power of their gifts.

Open your hearts to the space of awakening
Open your minds to the breath of inspiration
Open yourself to death’s transformative hand
Knowing that physical death is only one form
Of this vision’s mastery.

Open yourself to a greater death that holds the
Vision Of your spiritual re-making as you willingly
Offer what needs final release to its watery gates.

The Hermit’s Light: Celebrating the Autumnal Equinox

The Great Wheel has turned once again and we find ourselves at the place of the Autumnal Equinox. The Equinoxes astronomically mark a point when the North and South poles of the Earth are neither tilted away nor towards the Sun. Twice yearly, this event means that both hemispheres are in receipt of equal amounts of day or night respectively. In the Northern Hemisphere the air is cooler, the leaves are turning and beginning to fall from brittle branches and all of life is giving pause to prepare for what changes lay ahead. This is the second of the three harvests and the fields are already beginning to brown as the day’s light gently wanes and we are enveloped in the quickening darkness of the setting sun. In a few more weeks the silence of Samhain’s energy will issue call to the Ancestors and their wisdom. But, for now we must lay the foundations upon which we will stand as we reach deeper into the waning year’s shrouded light. Read more:

The night is warm and I stand facing the lingering light, thick and strong in its final hold. I think on all that has brought me to this point of the Great Wheel and call to myself the memories of lessons learned and places filled with burgeoning light that I have nurtured and cultivated as my Inner Sun waxed to fullness. Each memory is illuminated from within and I feel the heat of my Inner Sun flaring out from center’s core; extending light filled streams of connection to each treasured sensation and image so that all may see the product of my efforts……
