The Book

Hands carefully and tenderly holding a book- pages between-
anticipation of what new kernals of wisdom may be consumed,
chewed upon- digested- with hopes of nourishing a hungry Soul

Seeds strewn between the crevices of mind and illumined waterfalls
of gentle rain- thirsty stream of electric idea- sparks of quickening
and the halted breath just before the sigh and exhale of
“yes, I understand!”

And, then- the beginning of a new awakening
– swish of pages – breath of musty history- sliding silk caress of ink and paper-
and once again I sit at the table of knowledge – first stirrings of appetite

The Unveiled

We blend, we merge, we move between and within- the ebb and flow of the tides becoming- moving both away and towards the edge of manifestation.

Heat, swirling, memory and tide pools of thought- the flotsam and jetsam of a turbulent sea contracting with the rhythm of birthing.

The moon’s reflection on still, black waters that hold the quickened seeds of life within. And, what of this Life- what is its purpose?

The fine mist of fertile energy- tiny particles of potency and potential- wafting upwards- drawn back to the Source of all being.

Heat-flame-solar flare of molten gold. The dross burnt away- the fusion complete- brilliant light-cold icy burning darkness and…

Once again the black waters reclaim- the tides recede and the mystery is revealed.

What remains to be revealed to you? Where do you find the mystery of your being?

Finding My Way

There are a few sites that I regularly return to for inspiration, insight and perspective. One of these is Katrina’s Joy – webpage and posts by the founder of Reflections Mystery School, Katrina Messenger. I came across a posting of a sermon she had delivered in June of 2006 entitled: Four Archetypes of Spiritual Vocation. I am always looking for better and more effective ways of connecting with those I interact with and reading this article offered some seeds for thought regarding how I approach that work. She begins with a statement of what “Vocation” is…

“Vocation at its core is a divine summons.” and continues in part with…

We each bring with us into this weary world, a unique jewel to be discovered, polished and shared.
We each are like beautifully wrapped parcels that are just waiting to be opened. This gift, this jewel,
is our vocation. You see we each have a special role to play in the tending and blossoming of human life.”

I believe that every day we are called by the Divine to do the work we inherently are embodied to do. Each breath we take, each action we embark upon and every interaction with another is an opportunity to step into this place of vocation. Albeit some are able to more clearly recognize and hear this call and are able and ready to act upon it. But, nonetheless, everyone has the potential for stepping into this place of living in union and harmony with their Divine nature and will. So, with all that being said- I found Katrina’s message a wonderful wake up call to explore and perhaps identify a bit more clearly those gifts that have lain dormant and forgotten.

Breaking the Silence

A change is slow in coming
My eyes can scarcely see
The rays of hope come streaming
Through the smoke of apathy

But oh my heart be strong
And guide when eyes grow dim
When ears grow deaf with empty words
When I know there’s life within

Music and lyrics by Loreena McKennitt
From: Parallel dreams (1989)

Written as a tribute to Amnesty International

One of my favorite singers is Loreena McKennett. I’ve always loved and been surrounded by music and naturally, when we had children, my intent was to share that love of music with them. I stumbled upon Loreena Mckennett’s CD’s after reading a descriptive of one in a catalogue and immediately fell in love with the style, lyrics, musicality and forays into other worlds and experiences they brought. Each album is a journey to a distant land and time from the Celts to the Byzantine Empire, Mongolia and beyond.
