Ah, the lusty month of May! Spring has taken hold. Seedlings are bursting upward. Thoughts turn to the great outdoors and spending more time with loved ones as the daylight blossoms with fertility and promise.

This is our Second Anniversary issue! Hard to believe that we have been sharing our writing with you, our dear readers for 2 years. We began this creative adventure using the fertile energy of May to quicken what we desired as a presence within our community and opportunity to gift the beauty of our paths, experiences and unique perspectives. Hopefully, we have done that and that you all have found some rest and inspiration in each month’s offerings. Onward into Year Three and more surprises….

Sun in Taurus

The moon waxes full on Sunday, April 29th in the astrological sign of Scorpio. So, you may be wondering why my title for this post alludes to the bull of Taurus. This reference is made because there are a whole lot of dynamics occurring between elemental water and earth right now and many are getting stuck in the mud as you struggle to break free….

The moon is Full wearing the garb of watery Scorpio and is in opposition to a Sun that burns hotly in earthly and robust Taurus. Both are signs of a Fixed modality which means that there is staying power to whatever/wherever their energy is applied. Sun in Aries

I lean back into the healing waters of the Great Mother. Light that is filled with purpose and intention shines down on my upturned face and I am at peace. The waters that hide the tears of my sorrow and pain rise up around me, now transformed into the gentle caress of joy and comfort. I am whole in these waters. I am free.

The waters rock gently and I, cradled as the most beloved child am carried under star and moonlight’s beauty. Ebb and flow, undulating and moving like the pans of a scale finely calibrated and holding the most precious of gems to be measured. Pain and comfort, sorrow and joy each filling one of the two and in their own time and space each becomes the dominant as the other quietly acquiesces to harmonious balance.

Full Moon in Virgo

As Mother Moon makes Her way from the fiery sign of Leo and transits into fullness later this evening in the earthy sign of Virgo, we too, are trying to make sense of the trauma and recent tragedies that have occurred far too frequent lately. These unsettling events stir up our emotional sensibilities and actions towards safeguarding what we hold dear rises on those waters to the foreground. But, first and foremost we have to take a deep look at what is not working as we sort through what should be a better way. This is the energy of this Full Moon’s experience.

We can use this month of March to begin the process of sorting through our beliefs, philosophies and culling down to manifest actions taken that are rooted and grounded in the collaborative place we share in this world. Jupiter stations…

Total Lunar Eclipse

This morning’s Full Moon was the second full moon of 2018-two in January! Additionally, the red coloring f this beautiful moon was the result of a Total Lunar Eclipse.

According to the NY Times Science section…

…There’s a lot packed into that phrase “super blue blood moon.”

• A BLUE moon happens when there are two full moons within a single calendar month.

Sun in Capricorn

Today is the final countdown and we welcome the longest night, now knowing that we carry the flame of newborn light within. This day is marked astronomically by the moment the Sun  reaches its southern most point in the sky, its orbit aligning with the earth’s horizon at the astrological demarcation of Capricorn. Saturn and Pluto also share the Capricornian energy of this day and the energy of earth is more pronounced.

Saturn, having just transited into Capricorn today, calls us to beginning the process of re-structuring what we have claimed as our baggage or our gifts.  And, if we are resistant, Pluto reminds us of the necessary endings so that what lay in the future may be birthed from what has past before. A Simple Contemplative Ritual

Today the offering is a simple ritual you may wish to use on this eve of the Winter Solstice or tomorrow. We have been seeking the light within and now we are ready to call forth that light and as we call to the Solstice and the longest day of darkness.

What you will need:

• A quiet space where you will not be disturbed and is or can be darkened;
• Something comfortable to sit on;
• Any color candle and holder;
• Matches (preferably the long ones)-not a lighter;
• A warm cup of cider, hot chocolate or tea.

Establish your space in whatever way aligns with your practice, calling it forth as a sacred, safe and quiet space for your working.

Settle in to whatever chair or other bodily support you have chosen. Make note of the strength of it as it supports the contours of your body…
